Transferring Domain Names |
Transferring a Domain Name to Pixelism. Important please read all the following: For names ending in .UK, control of the domain will be transferred to Pixelism. When your initial two year registration period comes to and end Pixelism will automatically renew your domain for you at the current rates. For gTLD domain names (.com, .net, .org) you will be charged for one years registration (£12.50 inc) . Control of the domain name will then be transferred to Pixelism and the registration term on that domain name extended for one year. For example, if you have a domain name registered with Network Solutions that is due to expire in 6 months then, after transferring the domain to Pixelism, the domain will have 1 year and 6 months left before coming up for renewal. After the domain has been transferred to Pixelism you can extend the registration period if you wish. This article covers the Pixelism side of the transfer only. Your current domain registration provider may have their own procedure, which you must follow. IMPORTANT: Before attempting the transfer, you must ensure: For all domains: You have a full and verified back-up of your current website, as the files will be lost during the transfer process. The domain is not 'on hold' with the current registrar (e.g. because of payment or renewal issues). For gTLD domains (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz) Transferring your gTLD (generic top level) domain to Pixelism To transfer your gTLD domain (.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz) to Pixelism, simply follow our step by step guide. Step 1: Inform your current provider First, confirm your current provider's identity. If you're not sure who your domain provider is, visit Tucows OpenSRS to perform a domain lookup (WHOIS). Your domain provider is usually listed under the "Technical contact" heading. Once you know who your domain provider is, inform them that you intend to move your domain name to Pixelism and request that they unlock your domain. You also need to obtain an AUTH code, which is vital to ensure the transfer takes place. You must also check that the Admin Contact email address is current and valid as the transfer request will be emailed to this address for authorisation. Step 2: Request that Pixelism adds your Domain to their Control Panel Once your previous host has confirmed that they intend to commence the transfer process, ask Pixelism to add your domain to their Control Panel, confirming the name of your domain. This will now set the transfer process in motion. NB: If the domain is not unlocked then the transfer process cannot be started. Step 3: Ensure the Admin Contact Replies to Tucows OpenSRS within 3 days Tucows OpenSRS - who oversee our .org domain name registrations and transfers on our behalf - will email the person listed as your domain's Admin contact, to confirm the transfer. The Admin contact must reply to Tucows OpenSRS, quoting the AUTH code, within three days, or the transfer will be cancelled. Quick tip: Your domain's Admin contact is listed its WHOIS lookup information. If you registered the domain, it is probably you. Step 4: Wait for the transfer to complete Your current domain provider now has seven days to complete the transfer. Pixelism will check if your domain name has transferred by attempting to configure it in their control panel. The transfer could fail for various reasons, including outstanding payments to your domain provider. If the domain has not transferred within ten days of your initial request, the transfer has failed. Step 5: Pixelism will change your domain's nameservers Once your domain has been successfully transferred to Pixelism we will then change your nameservers to: DNS TAGS: Primary Server: NS1.LIVEDNS.CO.UK 213.171.192.250 Secondary Server: NS2.LIVEDNS.CO.UK 213.171.193.250 It will now take around 72 hours for the world's ISPs to recognise that you have changed your domain name's nameservers to those used by Pixelism. Please Note: once a domain is transferred we have to re-setup the domain, emails and FTP, so please make sure you have a backup of your site as the site will have to be re-uploaded. (You may already know this, but just in case!) Once the transfer is complete Pixelism will email you the FTP access information (username and password) to your domain, as well as any email account information you require. You will then be invoiced (payment within 14 days of receipt of invoice). If you have any further queries regarding payment or hosting, please do not hesitate to contact Pixelism.
